Map & Itinerary

As the homeland of giant pandas, Sichuan Province is best known for its fiery cuisine and beautiful natural landscapes. It has great differences in terrain, containing mountains from the west and green fertile land from the east.

A few of the activities include the Chengdu panda base, the nearly 2000-year-old irrigation system, the World heritage Giant Buddha and the Ya’an where the first panda was discovered. Moreover, if you want to explore the real beauty and cultural essence of Mount Emei, hiking is the best way. Additionally there is a mix between popular tourist attractions and non-touristic sites, so you will get to see the tourist sites but also discover places that are not frequented by many people.

Holiday Itinerary

  • ARRIVE IN CHENGDU

You will fly into Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province in southwest China. Upon arrival, you will be met by your experienced guide and driver, and check in the hotel.

    • Accommodation 4/5 star hotel

  • DUJIANGYAN - MT. QINGCHENG

In the morning, we will drive about 1.5 hours to visit Dujiangyan Irrigation Project to find the secret of the Land of Abundance.

Along with the Great Wall and Grand Canal, the Dujiangyan Dam is one of the three great Chinese architectural masterpieces. Constructed in 256 BC, the Dujiangyan irrigation system is the world's oldest and a UNESCO-protected historical site. Originally, this dam contributed to Sichuan prosperity by preventing flooding and sending water to the basin, which resulted in the villagers’ prosperity. Now this system distributes waters of the Min River to the farmland of the Chengdu Plain to support a current population of over 10 million.

In the afternoon, we drive about 30 minutes(20km) to Mt Qingcheng, we will carry out a walking tour in Mt.Qingcheng. As the early residence of one of the Taoist founders and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Qingcheng Mountain’s path is lined with temples and sanctuaries. As such, it is the perfect retreat from bustling city life and provides visitors with a profound sense of calm. Visitors spend several hours on the tranquil mountain route, enjoying the peace of the natural surroundings.

  • HUANGLONGXI ANCIENT TOWN / LESHAN GIANT BUDDHA / EMEISHAN

After breakfast, take a 1.5hrs drive to Huanglongxi which is an ancient town with a history of more than 1,700 years. Situated in Shuangliu County, 30 kilometers southeast from Chengdu, it is greatly admired by visitors for its beautiful natural scenery and ancient Chinese culture.

Then transfer to visit Leshan Giant Buddha, the looming Leshan Giant Buddha is a Tang dynasty (618-907 AD) relic that is the largest carved stone Buddha in the world at 71 meters. The Buddha, build in AD 713 by a Chinese monk named Haitong to calm the river waters, was crafted from a cliff face. It seems that so much stone from the carving process fell into the river below that it did indeed calm the area’s waters. While often crowded with tourists and battling the effects of pollution, Leshan is nevertheless an exquisite UNESCO world heritage site that is not to be missed for its impressive size and beautiful surrounding area.

After that, drive to Emeishan City to stay overnight.

  • MOUNT EMEI HIKING

Today’s hiking will take us to challenge the stone-paved paths up and down, to meet the unexpected monasteries and temples, to get close touch the original wild living animals and plants on Mount Emei. Most of hiking trails built hundreds years ago are some narrow stone-paved walking paths from the foot of mountain to the summit, through forests.

Early in the morning we may take a shuttle bus to Wuxiangang Station, and start our walk for about an hour to Qingyin Pavilion, the most beautiful landscape of Mount Emei. On the way we may follow the stream up, passing by local villages and a manmade lake. Then keep walking for another 1 hour up to the famous Ecological Monkey Area. Among those more than 3000 species of plants and animals here, the wild monkeys are the real hosts of this magic mountain mainly because of their naughtiness and cleverness. After that we walk down back to Qingyin Pavilion and start a 1 hour hiking to Wannian Temple at the middle of the mountain. It is one of the most ancient temples on Emei Mountain.

After lunch, we will take a tour bus to Leidongping(雷洞坪). It will take about 2 hours for the tour. The final 2-3 hours hike from Leidongping to the Golden Summit (3077m) involved 7.5km up. You may also have the other option to walk up about 30 minutes to the cable car station and take the cable car up to the Golden Summit just for 10mins. Once you reach the Golden Summit, the top of Mt. Emei, you will be indulged by the giant golden Buddha Statue standing on the top and the breathtaking sunset from the summit.

After lunch, we will drive back to Chengdu. Move on to Chengdu Renmin Park to experience the most authentic Chengdu local life such as playing Mahjong. And going through the Wide & Narrow Alleys freely with your bike, where the elegant style of the architectures tells you what Sichuan looks like during the Qing Dynasty.

It is the largest and oldest ruins of the ancient Shu culture with the most abundant cultural connotation in the Southwest of China. The discovery of Sanxingdui predates 2,000 years of Sichuan's history and proves that the upper reaches of the Yangtze and the Yellow River region are the cradle of the Chinese civilization. The Sanxindui is recognized as one of world's most important ancient remains because of its vast size, age and cultural contents.
