  • Day 02 Shanghai Discovery (BLD)

    Your full day tour begins from the Yu Garden. Owing to its ingenious design in Ming and Qing dynasties, it becomes a real museum of Chinese ancient architecture. Yu in Chinese means pleasing and satisfying, and this garden was specially built for the parents of Pan Yunduan, a government officer of the Ming dynasty, as a place for them to enjoy a tranquil and happy time in their old age. The pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds and cloisters all have unique characteristics. Then you can have a rest in an ancient Chinese tea house. After the tea you will be driven to the People Square where you can see the City Hall and surrounding buildings from outside. Traveling on, you will stroll along the Xintiandi in the Former French Concession, which is considered to be one of the most charming places in Shanghai for Chinese and foreigners.     In the afternoon, you will start from the Jade Buddha Temple, founded in 1882 with two jade Buddha statues imported to Shanghai from Burma by sea. These were a sitting Buddha (1.95 meters tall, 3 tonnes), and a smaller reclining Buddha representing the Buddha's death. Then Bund, Shanghai’s picturesque waterfront, well known as the International Architecture Exhibition for its spectacular soaring skyline. From here, enjoy sweeping views of both sides of the Huangpu River. Next, you will take a Huangpu River Cruise, admire the beauty of Shanghai on the river and between the skylines. The tour will finish here and you will be transferred back to your hotel or appointed spot in downtown.

  • Shanghai Culture & Art Tour / Stay in Suzhou


    In the afternoon, visit Tianzifang, arts and crafts enclave that has developed from a renovated traditional residential area in the French Concession area. Or you may the other option to visit 50 Moganshan Road or "M50", which is a contemporary art district in Shanghai, that houses a thriving community of more than a hundred artists whose studios are open to the public. It is often compared with New York's SoHo and Beijing's 798 Art Zone. The art quarter has become a popular cultural attraction for local and international visitors alike, and was named among the top ten things to do in Shanghai by Time Magazine.

    Later you will drive to Shanghai Hongqiao Train Station, where you'll board the train to Suzhou. Today we will stayovernight in the famous Pingjiang Road.

  • Day 04 Suzhou Garden Art Tour

    Wake up early in the morning, you may stroll around the Pingjiang Road, the main road in Song Dynasty (800 years ago), and now is still well-preserved. Breath fresh air in the morning, as the ancient village emerged into the sunlight. Explore the most authentic place to peek Suzhou’s life. You will find ancient wells and might chat with tradesmen.

    After breakfast, start with an interesting visit to Humble Administrator’s Garden (aka Zhouzheng Garden) (1.5 hrs), one of the Four Greatest Gardens in China as well as the largest and most grandiose one among all Suzhou Gardens. The Classical Gardens of Suzhou was listed as the World Heritage Site in 1997 because “the gardens of Suzhou” represent the development of Chinese landscape garden design over more than two thousand years", and they are the "most refined form" of garden art”, according to UNESCO.

    Then move on to the most outstanding museum in Suzhou – Suzhou Museum which is the masterpiece of the world famous architect I. M. Pei who has built Louvre's pyramids in Paris, Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, the Miho Museum in Japan and many extraordinary buildings all over the world. While he was

    In the afternoon, you will go to explore the most historical site in Suzhou – Tiger Hill. The famous Chinese poet in Song Dynasty (960-1279), Su Shi, once said, “It is a lifelong pity if having visited Suzhou you did not visit Tiger Hill.” He was definitely right. The hill is only 36 meters in height, but covers about 3.5 acres areas with a number of historical sites some of which have history over 2,500 years. The most famous sites include the Yunyan Pagoda which is an over-1000-year-old pagoda with seven stories in height and famously leans much the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Apart from the history, the Tiger Hill is also an amazing place to go for a walk, enjoy natural scenery and experience local custom.

    Next, you will go to take an enjoyable and relaxing Cruise on the Suzhou Ancient Grand Canal (for about 25 minutes). Ride along the waterways, which give the city its nickname, 'Venice of the East.' Watch the old buildings and streets passing by, come across ancient stone bridges, experience the authentic local living...

    After the tour, be transferred to your hotel. Have a good rest!

  • Day 05 Suzhou Water Town Tour / Stay in Shanghai

    After breakfast, you will go to visit another masterpiece of the Classical Gardens of Suzhou - Master of the Nets Garden, first constructed in 1140 by Shi Zhengzhi to express his aspiration to live a simple life as a fish man. Though as the smallest garden among all Suzhou Gardens, the Master of the Nets Garden is regarded as the most impressive one because of its adept skills for mastering the techniques of relative dimension, contrast, foil, sequence and depth, and borrowed scenery to make the visitor has an illusion that the garden is much greater than its actual size. At the same time, the Master of the Nets Garden is much more tranquil than others. After all day’s visit of garden and museum, you must want to try something relaxing. Next, transfer to Suzhou No.1 Silk Factory where you could not only see how the silk is processed from worm to the final product, but also learn some history and culture of silk in China.

    Tour ends. Drive back to Shanghai.

  • Day 06 Shanghai / Jingdezhen Heritage of Ceramic Industry Museum

    Take the high-speed train or flight to Jingdezhen, upon arrival, meet the local tour guide, and transfer to the hotel and check in have a short rest.

    At night, visit Taoxichuan Ceramic Art Avenue. Based on the protection and utilization of the porcelain industry heritage, Taoxichuan Ceramic Art Avenue programme is a compound-type project which integrates the industrial development and upgrading into the new-type urbanization. It is an original major production base of exported porcelain in China and a typical old industry area in the city with lots of industry heritages and long-standing history. You will have an educational tour in Jingdezhen Heritage of Ceramic Industry Museum.

  • Day 07 Secret of Jingdezhen Ancient Kiln & Jingdezhen Ceramic

    Visit Jingdezhen Ancient Kiln• Folk Customs Exhibition Spot, learning the history of ancient kiln.

    In the afternoon, visit Jingdezhen Huangyao Kiln, where you can try to paint porcelain with a jolley.

    Visit the Jingdezhen Ceramic Street later.

  • Day 08 Jingdezhen / Tunxi Hu Kaiwen Ink Factory & Hui Ink Brush Workshop

    After breakfast, , transfer to Tunxi, Huangshan City (2.5 driving). Upon arrival, check in and have a short rest. Then visit Hu Kaiwen Ink Factory, the oldest and most famous factory for Hui Ink sticks in China, where we can see the whole working process of ink sticks. After that, visit the Hui Ink Brush Workshop and learn to make your own Chinese ink brush with the master. And then use your Hui-style Ink Brush to have a short calligraphy lesson.

    At last, stroll around the Tunxi Old Street.

  • Day 09 Xidi & Lu Ancient Village / Mukeng Bamboo Forest

    After breakfast, transfer to Yi Xian (Yi County), visit Xidi ancient village, which is famed as being the “Ming and Qing Dynasty Local Residence Museum”. Visit Lu ancient village (Lu Cun), enjoy the most beautiful wood carvings in Huizhou. Transfer to Mukeng village, hike in the bamboo forest. It is well known as the shooting location of the Oscar-winning movie “Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon”. Drive back to Tunxi hotel.

  • Day 10 She Xian Bamboo Carving Museum / Tangmo Ancient Village

    After breakfast, drive to Bamboo Carvings Museum and experience how to making the Bamboo tea sets of Song dynasty.

    After lunch, visit Tangmo village, the No.1 Shuikou garden village, and enjoy the Huang mei Opera in the ancient ancestral hall. Visit the ancient Tangyue Memorial Archway group. The unique Memorial Archways include seven stone archways built in the Ming. and Qing dynasties spanning over 200 years. Drive back to Tunxi hotel and check in.

  • Day 11 Discover Huizhou Ancient Dance Drama

    After breakfast, drive to Qimen county; watch the Huizhou Nuo dance drama. As one of the roots of Hui Culture, Nuo dance drama is rich in forms of expression ,in which some performance are really popular such as “Pan Gu created the World”, “Liu Hai Playing with Gold Toad”、“General Killed Tudi”、“Loins Give the world peace”.

    In the afternoon, transfer to Mashan village, watch Mashan Mulian Drama. Drive back to Tunxi hotel

  • Day 12 Taoist Qiyun Mountain

    After breakfast, drive to xiuning county, Visit Qiyun mountain, one of the four famous Taoism mountains in Chinese, to appreciation the Bagua pattern of the largest rural style in China, tasting the Taoist food and watch the ceremony of the Taoist. Practice Tai Chi and learn how to use Tai Chi theory to keep in good health. Drive back to Tunxi hotel.

  • Day 13 Wanan & Chengkan Fengshui Ancient Village

    Drive to Chengkan village, the most famous Bagua village, you can hold the compass and follow the Fengshui master to know the mysteries of the Fengshui. Drive back to Tunxi hotel.

  • Day 14 Huangshan Tea Plantation / She County

    After breakfast, drive to Huangshan Tea Plantation, picking tea leaves with local tea farmers and enjoy the Chinese tea ceremony.

    Drive to She Xian (She County). Visit Huizhou Ancient Town, one of the four ancient town in China. Experience Chinese paper-cutting folk art, which enjoys long history. After lunch, visit the Hui Shang (Huizhou Merchants) Grand Courtyard, or called Xi Yuan, a Private Ancient House of Hui Shang. Enjoy the three Huizhou carving styles (stone carving, wood carving and brick carving). Drive back to Tunxi hotel.

  • Day 15 Huangshan Departure

    After breakfast, let’s sum it up and enjoy the Tang and Song Dynasty tea culture through boiling the tea and drinking the tea in the Huizhou traditional academy. Have lunch in the local restaurant and then transfer to the Huangshan Railway Station and take the high-speed train to Shanghai or Beijing.

Holiday Information

Enough films and batteries, Sun-cream with the protection index of 40-60, sunglasses with a sun protection factor of 15, the lip creams and balms with SPF rating, towel, toothpaste, electric torch, Snack foods.

Cloth that you bring must be warm enough and can be removed easy enough according to the weather, including Jacket, hat, Cotton underwear, Socks, Long-sleeve Shirts, T-shirts and Pants (Shorts are not appropriate at any time while hiking), comfortable shoes, rain gear (long rain coat is better).

In addition to the normal medications for traveling, just like the Aspirin and medicine for diarrhea, siriasis,sunstroke and carsickness.

US$ is acceptable only in a very limited range, e.g. tips. However, for convenience, Chinese currency is the best choice. If you want to change US$ to Chinese currency in the tour, you can change it in the Hotel you stay or in the Bank of China. You could draw cash only from Bank of China in the big city, the ATM there doesn't always work properly and the bank is not easy to find. Please bring some cash at hand to use.

a) Eating is an important part of your China experience. Generally breakfasts are included in the itinerary and offered by hotels. China Highlights recommends local Chinese restaurants that are popular with local people for lunch. You can order dishes with the help of your guide. We usually leave dinner for your own choice — Western food can be found in most large cities.

b) We have tried to arrange various food in different cities. But you may still think the food is simple and not as delicious as in the big cities especially while trekking in the mountains and villages. If you have any priority of the food (eg. If you are vegetarian or you are allergic to MSG, peanut oil, fish and peanut, etc) please inform us early, we will try to alternate the food accordingly. At the same time please prepare some of your favorite snacks and substitution food in case of need.

c) Meals in the home stays will be different from the cities but clean, which leave you a good chance to experience the ethnic minority culture. We will pack a breakfast for you of cold cereal, milk, toast, fruit, and jam for the home stay. d) It is very important to drink a lot of water and eat enough fruit in your tour especially while trekking in the mountains and villages. You are advised not to drink tap water.

Hotels in China are bound by Government laws which mean that air conditioning is switched on nationally in May and the central heating in November (this may vary slightly depending on the region).

In some remote areas, sometimes shower maybe not available in the home stay. A married couple is not allowed to share a room in the Miao's home-stay due to the local customs.
